Number

This section of Exploring English describes the concept of number in the English language.

Number is a characteristic of nouns, pronouns, and verbs that indicates whether one thing (singular) or more than one thing (plural) is intended:

Singular:

He chases a cat.

Plural:

They chase the cats.
