Exploring CultureSpirit of the Land - Sacred Places in Native North America

Out of print, but Amazon Books may be able to find a copy.Photography by Courtney Milne

Published by Viking Press 1994

Courtney Milne is a fabulous nature photographer from Saskatchewan. Spirit of the Land - Sacred Places in Native North America provides a fascinating photographic tour of beautiful natural areas in North America.

The sites cover the entire continent and have sacred significance to Native North Americans. The photos are accompanied text describing the Native legends and beliefs that make the site sacred.

The book is organized according to the four directions - North, East. West, and South.

Unfortunately, the book is out of print and difficult to find. I found a copy recently at Costco/PriceClub. Amazon Books can try to locate a copy for you.

Courtney Milne has also published a similar book:

Sacred Places in North America : A Journey into the Medicine Wheel, Published by Stewart Tabori & Chang, May 1, 1995

I have not seen the newer book, but I would expect the same level of brilliance. Sacred Places in North America : A Journey into the Medicine Wheel is available through Amazon Books.
