About
the Shared Visions LogoPerhaps you have been wondering about the Shared Visions Unlimited Logo and what the various elements mean.
The four colors (red, black, white, and yellow) within the circle can represent many things. The first intention is to form a unity wheel representing the four races of mankind. The colors within a perfect circle suggest that humanity is not complete without the influence of the four races.
This unity wheel was derived from Native culture. I recently discover the following passage in Carl Jung's Man and His Symbols which refers to the same four colors:
There is a Jewish legend that when God created Adam, he first gathered red, black, white, and yellow dust from the four corners of the world, and thus Adam "reached from one end of the earth to another." When he bent down, his head was in the East and his feet in the West
M.-L. von Franz section, 'The Process of Individuation', p 214
The white, yellow, red, and black areas form a pattern based on the Taoist Yin Yang symbol. The pattern suggest a balance of influences and energies. Some say that the pattern also suggest motion around a common centre.
The stylized eye around the unity wheel suggests a universal or shared vision.
Most of the pages within Shared Visions Unlimited use a convention where the graphic at the upper right hand corner of the page provides a link back to the appropriate home page. This means that most of the time when you see a variation of the Shared Visions Unlimited logo, you can click on it to jump to another area. In this sense, it serves as a portal to other realms of the web site. Have fun exploring!
